On Monday 14 February, our school started to build a gazebo. The gazebo will be used for a classroom, shelter and for other school events. Pupils will use the classroom for interesting lessons such as: science, drama and reading. It is located on the grass near the main gate so that parents and passers by get a 'wow' factor when passing our school. We highlighted to the National lottery that there was no shaded area since our conservation area was fenced off, so they gave us pounds 4500 to help build it. There are also tables with parasols for packed-lunches that can also be used for shaded areas in the summer. Pupils thought about which design would be best and they decided on a 5m x 5m hexagonal gazebo as it would provide shelter from the sun, rain and wind, making playtimes more enjoyable. Our new gazebo shows that our school embraces the environment and children enjoy learning outdoors. It was finished during the half term break and took about a week to build. The whole school community will enjoy using the outdoor classroom.
